Pamper yourself during pregnancy

A few self-care tips for Mom2B

Pregnancy is a wonderful journey, but it comes with new responsibilities, associated pains, physical changes, anxiety and stress while growing a new life inside of you. This might make you feel overwhelmed and that’s why, taking care of your body, mind and soul is important. You need to do whatever you can to minimize stress and get more rest, not only for your own health but also for your growing baby.

Here are some self-care tips to help you pamper yourself during pregnancy:

Don’t forget about yourself

When you are pregnant, all your thoughts and energy will be focused on your baby and their arrival. That is natural and wonderful, but it can be draining. Don’t forget to put yourself first sometimes. Do something that’s just for you. It will help you reset and lift your mood.

  • Go for brunch with friends
  • Take a nap
  • Read a book
  • Watch your favourite series
  • Go shopping.

Care about your skin

You may already know this but not all skincare is safe to use during pregnancy. Many products contain chemicals that aren’t safe for Mom2B and her baby. Get skincare products that contain organic and healthy ingredients that will help pamper you without putting you or your baby at risk.

Eat well

Having a balance diet is beneficial for you and baby. Eat a lot of nutritious food which includes vegetables, fruits, healthy fats and whole grains. You want to give your baby, the nutrients they need to grow and develop. You also want to be kinder to your body with healthier foods. You should also increase your water intake during pregnancy. Eat healthier but always listen to your doctor’s recommendations in case you are at risk for any complications. A healthy diet equals a healthy Mom2B and baby.

Massage for Mom2B

Prenatal massages are important during pregnancy. Getting them regularly will help reduce stress reduce stress, relieve fatigue, anxiety and mental strain. Prenatal massages are an excellent way to target hard-to-get-rid-of back pains and help Mom2B feel better and more relaxed.

Fresh air and sunshine

Going outside for some fresh air and a little sunshine is great for your mood and mental health. You can simply just sit outside for a few minutes and enjoy the sun and air, or you could take a short walk to get your body moving. Just breathing fresh air and being in the sun for a few minutes has therapeutic and stress reducing powers. Remember not to stay in the sun for too long to avoid sunburn. Put on some comfy shoes and go outside for a little self-care.

Journal

Writing your feelings down in a journal can be helpful for managing stress, anxieties and more. It can also be a great way to journal the pregnancy journey and have memories to keep. You can look back and see how you’re feeling during pregnancy. You can also jot down and track your morning sickness or fatigue. Writing can help release anything you need to let go of. It is a great way to take care of yourself and your emotions.

Don’t forget to rest

It’s okay to unplug and reset. There is a lot going on in the world and taking a break from work, social media, tv and people, can be a great way to pamper yourself. Take a day off and take time to connect with yourself, spend time with your baby and relish in solitude. Make much needed space and time for yourself.
